Week 7 The Environment, Economy and Society Questions

Week 7 The Environment, Economy and Society Questions

The Environment, the Economy, and Society

While developing and implementing sustainability plans certainly can be exciting, their effectiveness hinges on the degree to which they are comprehensive and incorporate the environment, the economy, and society. For example, imagine your plan targets a lack of green space in your community. To address this problem, your plan might call for the development of green space in neighborhoods and shopping districts. If the development of green space in shopping districts does not consider the impact on local businesses, your plan is not comprehensive. If your plan calls for the development of green space in upscale areas but not in economically challenged areas, it is not equitable. As you continue to think about how you might address your community’s problem, it is important that you consider how to make sure that the environment, the economy, and society are taken into account.
