Nursing Organization Delta Health task
*Make a Comment ***As an overall organization Delta Health is overseen by the board of directors. The board of directors is comprised of 5 volunteer members who are chosen by an election process. The board of directors approve large expenditures, organizational changes, approve expansion projects, and assists with the yearly budget. The board of directors meet routinely with the administrative team of Delta Health and function in a less visible role. The day-to-day running of the organization is overseen by the administrative team in conjunction with the department managers; both roles are highly visible to employees and patients. The department managers are the middleman between each department and administration. The board of directors, administration, and the department managers are appointed to the position through an application and interview process or by election and are the formal leaders of the organization.
The hospital utilizes a house supervisor for the patient care units who coordinates admissions, transfers between departments, fills in when staffing is an issue, and a multitude of other tasks functioning as a formal leader- this role is designated and assigned. Many departments (including ICU and Med-Surg) also utilize a team lead who are RNs working in that department with several years of experience who assist with staff who have questions or need guidance and are a more informal leader role as the role is not always assigned but assumed. Additionally, the hospital has initiated a mentorship program for new graduate nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals by pairing them with a seasoned professional who offers their expertise and wisdom during the first year on the job; these mentors are not given a title or compensated for their position- it is a more informal leadership role (Delta Health, 2020).

There are many stakeholders in this organization including multiple organizations in the community that depend on services and care at the hospital; some of these organizations include the local public health department, the prison, and both long-term and assisted living facilities. Another key stakeholder is the population who receives care at this institution from prenatal care to birth to death and everything in between. The patients who receive care are the reason this organization exists and are so important to the overall success. The staff of around 600 at Delta Health are all stakeholders due to their commitment and dedication to both the organization and the populations that are served. Delta Health alternates between the largest and second largest employer in the county and is a large factor in the county’s economic outcomes (Delta Health, 2020).
