Discussion: Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study—what the researchers wanted to explore or test—provides necessary context for the rest of the study’s information. Thus, it is a good place to start when crafting a research article summary. It can be tempting to directly quote the study’s purpose, but as a graduate-level writer, you are expected to use your own words to report on the literature from your field.

Post your initial 1- to 2-paragraph response that addresses the following:
- What was the purpose of the study the authors conducted? Write that purpose in your own words.
- Additionally, reflect on the process of paraphrasing the purpose. Pose any questions and/or explain challenges that came up during the process.
