I feel like whenever you are amongst friends, you have some of the most honest conversations. When you feel like you’re in a safe space, you are more likely to have difficult conversations about differences, changes, and improvements. The same can be said about organizations around nursing and the specialties within the umbrella of its practice. Not only do these organizations help advocate for nurses’ needs, but also support process changes including advances in technology and research for evidence based practice roll outs. They provide the latest information regarding medications and treatments, and provide the platform via conferences and webinars.

The American Nurses Association advocates through federal agencies, and assists with implementation of federal law. (ANA, n.d.) It is an organization that unifies on a national level and provides consistency in the profession. There is value in professional nursing organizations as they provide a unified front for changes and advancement, activism against systemic racism, and a voice for those that aren’t easily heard.

Nursing professional organizations like the American Nurses Association, which comprises of 3.6 million members making it the largest organization, supports nurses by being a tool for information, innovation, and advocacy. ANA supports the field of nursing by play a major role in advancing the health policies, working environments, workforce and evidence-based practice procedures. ANA advocates for the nursing practice by being the voice for nurses. ANA is heavily affiliated with all affairs associating to nursing and has organizations working under them, which allows them to support nurses at federal and state levels (GCU, 2018).

Professional nursing organizations provide value to advocacy and activism relating to client care by educating and communicating evidence-based information to nurses so they are up to date with the latest innovations that are impacting patient care. Nursing organizations like ANA, contributed to legislation that took place in 2017 that would of negatively affected patient outcomes. ANA has always valued quality and safe patient care (GCU, 2018).
