In school nursing there is no shortage of reports to do. We provide statistics on sensory screenings, nurse visits, medication administration at school, injury, illness, health teaching, and immunization status.
Of these the one that has the most impact in rural Arizona is immunization status. Leadership and advocacy requires participation in the evaluation process. While completing reports may not seem impactful, it is a method that effects change and identifies areas that need improvement. Arizona has a high personal belief exemption rate (ADHS 2018). Identifying areas that lack coverage assists in the evaluation of interventions needed and where to expect outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases. Leadership and Advocacy in Nursing Essay

In hospitals, nurses have to apply leadership models. However, they have to ensure that their leadership does not affect the running of the hospital in a negative way. Rather the hospital should be able to realize some changes connected to the leadership model. The leader of the nurse should make sure that the leadership brings about good relationship between the nurses and the patient. As we all know bad leadership can cause to severe challenges. More so, in a hospital, it can even lead to death of the patients. There are different types of leadership models. They include democratic, authoritative, transformational, and many more.

As a nurse leader, I like the democratic type of leadership. In this model, each nurse will have their contributions considered. They will all contribute in making decisions that will favor the recovery speed of the patients. According to (AcqNotes, 2017) Democratic leadership is the most effective leadership that leads to higher productivity in each field it is employed. If the nurses contribute in making their decision, then they will have increased morale to work to show that the points they gave could impact work very well to increasing the process of patients recovering. The model is the favorite because it even goes further to rewarding the nurses and encouraging them in case, they have done a god job.
