This week you all will be learning about pain management and sedation. This is especially important in post-op patients and ICU patients. So please review all your learning resources.

Week 8: Sedation and Pain Management
Patients in distress can quickly encounter issues that compound their primary health problem. Resultant pain, discomfort, and stress from injury, illness, and procedure can represent a significant hardship for patients. It can also manifest in increased stress, anxiety, heart rate, blood pressure, and more.
Hence, sedation and pain management are an important component of treatment. Often, a significant element of a procedural and treatment plan is a plan for managing pain and discomfort.
This week, you explore concepts of sedation and pain management. You examine the role of sedation medications and procedures in the treatment plan as well as approaches to developing pain management plans during acute care.
